Hyperpigmentation Treatment
Fade dark spots, melasma, and post-acne marks safely. Works on every skin tone.
UNDERSTAND THE CONDITION
What Is Hyperpigmentation?
Hyperpigmentation just means parts of your skin look darker than the rest. It happens when your skin makes too much of a color called melanin. You may notice it as dark patches, sun spots, freckles, or marks left after acne.
At Royal Medical Health we use the LaseMD Ultra as our main treatment. It is a gentle laser that fades dark spots without harsh side effects. Best of all, it is safe on every skin tone — from the lightest to the deepest.
DIAGNOSE THE TYPE
Types of Hyperpigmentation We Treat
Hyperpigmentation can show up in a few different forms. Each one looks a little different and has its own cause. The good news: LaseMD Ultra can treat all of them.
Melasma
Brown or gray patches on cheeks, forehead, or upper lip. Often shows up during pregnancy or after starting birth control. The sun makes it worse.
Acne Marks
Dark marks left after acne, eczema, or other skin injuries heal. More visible and persistent on darker skin tones.
Sun Spots & Age Spots
Well-defined brown spots from years of sun exposure. The most common type we treat in Albuquerque.
Freckles & Sun Damage
Freckles plus broader sun damage like rough texture, dullness, and uneven tone.
HOW IT WORKS
How Does the LaseMD Ultra Work?
LaseMD Ultra is a gentle laser that uses a special light to target dark spots without harming the skin around them. The laser creates tiny micro-channels in the top layer of your skin. This does two things at once.
First, your skin starts a natural renewal process. The dark cells get pushed out and fresh, even-toned cells take their place. Second, those tiny channels let brightening serums sink in deeper than any cream alone could reach.
We apply numbing cream first, so most clients say the treatment feels like a warm tingle. The session itself takes 10 to 20 minutes.
- Fades dark spots safely on every skin tone
- Helps your skin renew itself naturally
- Lets brightening serums sink in deeper

WHY US
Why Royal Medical Health
We are one of the few clinics in Albuquerque with a LaseMD Ultra. Our team builds your treatment around the kind of dark spots you actually have — not a one-size-fits-all plan. We also adjust the laser settings safely for your skin tone.
At Royal Medical Health, you are more than a patient to us. Dark spots can be frustrating, and what works for one skin tone can damage another. Our team takes the time to understand your skin, listen to your goals, and tailor every Ultra session to you.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Hyperpigmentation Treatment FAQ
Common questions about hyperpigmentation, melasma, and the LaseMD Ultra treatment.
Is LaseMD Ultra safe on darker skin tones?
Yes. LaseMD Ultra is safe on every skin tone, from the lightest to the deepest. This is one of its biggest advantages over older lasers and IPL devices, especially here in Albuquerque.
Does the treatment hurt?
Most people say it feels like a warm tingle. We put on a numbing cream before treatment to keep you comfortable.
How many treatments will I need?
Some people see results after just one session. For deeper dark spots, most people do 2 to 4 sessions over a few months. Full results show up around 8 to 12 weeks after your last session.
Is there any downtime?
Your skin will look mildly red right after, but you can go back to your normal day. For the next 5 to 6 days your skin will feel a little dry and sandy as the dark cells flake off and brighter skin shows through. You can wear makeup again within a day or two if your provider says it is okay.
How long does a treatment take?
About 10 to 20 minutes per area. Some clients call it a Lunchtime Facial because they fit it in over a break.
Will my dark spots come back?
They can — especially melasma and spots from sun damage. Daily sunscreen is the most important step to keep your results. Most people also do a refresh Ultra treatment every few months to stay looking great.
